11/17/2014 Gerson's confirmation and CHICKEN SLAUGHTERING!!

Hello Family!

Wow what an awesome week. So Monday night of transfers we get a call at 10:20 from my best friend in the world, sister Call. She says "So..did the ap's tell you you're getting my companion?" NO. then BAM sister Tureson shows up the next morning:) WE ARE NOW IN A TRIPANIONSHIP! We call ourselves the tri force. Its legit. You should see us all 3 riding our bikes down the street in our black jackets and skirts... we look like a biker gang! I would be terrified if I saw us. We look awesome.

We now live with 5 sisters...one bathroom. Pray for us. So far things are going great! We have seen so many miracles! We all three got to speak in church on sunday. I taught the restoration, Sister Shelton taught the plan of salvation, and sister Tureson taught the gospel over the pulpit. It was so powerful!

Gerson was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints yesterday and his mom came to church!! She talked to a lot of the Spanish speakers in the ward so that was awesome!

We also started another sugar fast for one of our part member families, the Marlatts. The Wife is a non member and is dying to be baptized but wants her husband to be able to baptize her before Christmas so they can get sealed in the salt lake temple next year around Christmas time. She has had this plan layed out for MONTHS! SO we decided to fast together to help him quit chewing tobacco. So far things are going great and she should be baptized the Saturday before I go home! Im so excited for them but cant WAIT to see them in the salt lake temple. They both grew up on a farm and invited us today to go slaughter chickens today...Sister Tureson grew up on a farm as well and was WAY too excited. So looks like that for our family fun activity for the day. PRAY FOR ME. The things you do on your mission... I swear. The Marlatts say, "all these traits you learn on you mission will prepare you to find a mate!" and I say "Ya nothing says romance like a chicken with it's head ripped off!" So we'll see how this goes down.

I am continually being humbled to see all the tender mercies around me. There is nothing like being a full time servant of the Lord. I will forever be a missionary. I love this gospel with my whole heart. I see the Atonement working each day, building me, strengthening me, and comforting me. My Savior Lives. There is no doubt about that.

I love you all! have a good week!

Happy Halloween Errbody....!

Hey family!

got my last transfer call last night:) I will be staying in Post Falls until the end! Sister Shelton will be my co pilate on this magic carpet ride...I'm super stoked. The Lord has blessed us so much this week!! We have had so many new investigators popping up out of no where!

Gerson was batized yesterdayyy! It was such an amazing baptism. His parents (both non members) picked us up and drove us to the church. It was awesome getting to talk to them. Their hearts were really softened at the baptism. His seminary class sang Joseph Smiths first prayer. His best friend from school baptized him (I think he was more nervous than Gerson was!) It was so sweet! Afterwards Gerson bore his testimony and spoke about how he knew there were two boys in heaven who promised they would find each other and the one would bring the other into the gospel. It was the most spiritual baptism I have ever been to on my mission! He truly has such a great path set before him. He is meeting with the Bishop next sunday to talk about getting the priesthood and getting a temple recommend to do baptisms! He has expressed how he wants to serve a mission in the next couple years. This guy is just on fire with the gospel right now....NEXT STOP CELESTIAL KINGDOM!

Heres a miracle:
So a few weeks ago we get a call from the CDA sisters. They have a referral of a girl who named McKenzie who is dying to be baptized but they have no phone or address where she will be living, just that she will be moving into our area. GREAT. So we pray and pray for this gal and nothing happens for weeks.

Just this last Saturday we were riding around in the rain and I forgot to layer up on my jackets. The wind was blowing and going back home to layer up sounded SOO tempting. The house was about a mile or so away and I wanted to hit these houses before we went back for dinner. We cross the street and there is no soul in sight. No one is answering their doors and Im like "Ok Heavenly Father. what do you want us to do? cause if its knocking all these doors and no ones home, I'll do it, but I feel you got something more for us out here." Finally we go to Jessica's home, a former investigator and we see a family moving stuff from their van into the house. We hop off our bikes and start helping them. First thing she says "You sisters always seem to find me no matter where I go." I looked at her kinda funny and just said, "God works in mysterious ways." When I asked her name she said. "McKenzie." oh cool....hmm....MCKENZIE from CDA! I tried to calm myself down a bit.." Well McKenzie, Could we share a message with you and your Father?" she smiled and said, "Yes please come in." We got to share the Book of Mormon with her father for the first time and on top of all that we found out she is living with a less active family that the ward has been trying to see for years! So we're teaching all of them now!

If there is one thing my mission has taught me its that, we have absolutely NO idea what the Lord has in store. All we can do is be obedient, have faith, and work! My favorite story right now in the Book of Mormon is in ether 2. The story of the Brother of Jared where he is told to cross the ocean to the promised land. The Lord specifically tells him NOT to stop at the shore but to continue on to the promise land.. and what does he do? Camps on the shore for 4 YEARS. The Lord Chastens Him for not calling upon him to do what the Lords needs Him to do next. I find myself forgetting to call upon the Lord all the time and "Settling" when I could be progressing and striving for His will and promise land.

This story has taught me that the Lord has a far greater vision for us than we could EVER obtain ourselves. Our will is but a seashore when His is the PROMISE LAND. Why should we EVER settle for anything less than that? We got to stay in communication with Him, Repent, and go to work. Keep going forward no matter how much or how little of our path we can see ahead. If we are living His gospel, We are on course to the promise land. With Him as our guide, we will never be lost. He lights the path to true and lasting happiness.

24 "For behold, ye shall be as a whale in the midst of the sea; for the mountain waves shall dash upon you. Nevertheless, I will bring you up again out of the depths of the sea; for the winds have gone forth out of my mouth, and also the rains and the floods have I sent forth.
25 And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come.."

Holy Smokes I love the scriptures. FEAST upon them every day!! I love you all!

"Hey, would you like to see my puppet collection?".... "sure"....
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!

Trunk or Treating!!

This is what the Lord is teaching me.

Hello Family!

Its been a great week:) Im gonna email you in a few days so I'm just gonna make this one short. But I truly am so grateful to be here. I love this gospel more than I could ever explain In words. The people I have met out here have changed my life for ever. I am humbled everyday. I am growing stronger each day too. The atonement has truly taken affect on me these last few months and I'm beginning to see how much the Lord truly has changed me. I am so much happier. He has taught me where and how to find true and lasting happiness. This world is so confusing and empty without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I see people running on this hamster wheel of life and getting so tired, and It just makes me want to cry. I wish everyone was humble enough to accept the message that their Savior offers. Accepting the agency of others has probably been the single most hardest thing my mission has put me through. It has given me a whole new perspective of the Love our Father in Heaven must have for us. Agency truly is a divine gift!

I was reflecting back to an experience I had a few weeks ago. I just experienced a pretty rough set back and was praying to have to strength to continue in the path. You know that feeling when you make a mistake and you feel this burden of guilt? I do. everyday haha we all make mistakes and our soul desires to be freed from it! There is typically two voices that enter my head. One says "Your an idiot, why couldn't you have just don't THIS or do that? You are just not good enough" and the other -completely opposite says, "Don't you dare lose hope, I'm still here, Its never too late," And repentance seems so sweet. This is a quote from a talk in general Conference I read that helped me to better discern which thoughts are from my Heavenly Father and which aren't.

6. Accept trials, setbacks, and “surprises” as part of your mortal experience. Remember that you are here to be proved and tested, “to see if [you] will do all things whatsoever the Lord [your] God shall command [you]” (Abraham 3:25)—and may I just add, “under all circumstances.” Millions of your brothers and sisters have been or are being thus tested, so why would you be exempt? Some trials come through your own disobedience or negligence. Other trials come because of the negligence of others or simply because this is a fallen world. When these trials come, the adversary’s minions begin broadcasting that you did something wrong, that this is a punishment, a sign that Heavenly Father does not love you. Ignore that! Instead, try to force a smile, gaze heavenward, and say, “I understand, Lord. I know what this is. A time to prove myself, isn’t it?” Then partner with Him to endure well to the end. Spiritual confidence increases when you accept that “often trials and tribulations are allowed to come into [your life] because of what [you] are doing right” (Glenn L. Pace, “Crying with the Saints” [Brigham Young University devotional, Dec. 13, 1987], 2; speeches.byu.edu).

I LOVE THAT! Partner with Him and endure well. THAT is was His atonement provides. When all others fail, HE is there to lift you to the finish line. His grace is sufficient to carry you through any trial, set back, or disappointment. My prayer is that none of you EVER listen to a voice that is not Loving, patient, and Kind. He loves you perfectly, I am a living witness of what His love can do for a person.

favorite scripture of the week: Isaiah 10:27
" And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."

I Love you all, I love this Gospel and testify of its truthfulness. Have a great week and find the joy is all you do! Its there, Promise!

Things are Great!

Hello family:)

It has been a great week. I've been learning so much:) Im so greatful to be here I cant even describe it. The Lord has not only blessed me this week but given me the ability to SEE the tender mercies He's placing in my life. I am so grateful to serve Him and His children.

Updates:
Daeshoane is back on the radar. We taight him the plan of Salvation last night and he is on date to be baptized on the 20th. When he was young he wants to be a preacher so at the end of out lessons, he always gives this southern Baptist sermon on "God gave His ONLY begotten son" and repeats the work ONLY like 400x. Its really sweet. The spirit is strong so I always give him little  "Amen, Hallelujah" in support. It's cute.

Jackie my nurse practitioner is now taking the discussions from the Couer D' Alene sisters. She and her Taught just received the Plan of Salvation and are doing so well:) God is good.

Gerson's (16 yr old street contact now taking seminary and coming to church each week!) his baptism was pushed back a week to next sunday. His mother is from mexico and his step father is always busy hunting so we finally got to have a sit down talk about his baptism. We gave his mother a Spanish Book of Mormon and are trying to get the Spanish Elders over there to meet her. She's slowly becoming interested but It might take a little while. I said a prayer in Spanish and SHE LOVES ME NOW! Thank you Hermana Dishong. Softening one Spanish heart at a time. At first she tried to tell us He wasn't ready but Gerson stood up and bore his testimony to his mother and the spirit was so strong In was amazing. He told her "These people are so happy and I know it's because they found Christs Gospel and I know being baptized will help me become more like my Savior, and that is my over all goal". We were glowing. I felt like a mother watching His sons preschool program performance. Nothing feels better then knowing what you are teaching them is sinking in!

I have had the Spirit testify to me so strongly that This is Christ Gospel. The evidence of this is the transformation I've seen and continue to see in myself. Greater Faith in Him has brought me through ever trial I face. Greater Reliance on His Atonement has made me stronger than I could have ever hoped to be. He Died for us so we might live and REALY live. There is so much fleeting happiness in the world that will never match up to the blessed and happy state of those who keep His commandments. He pleads me might humble and obedient so He CAN strengthen us and carry us to much greater heights. Our greatest happiness is not attainable with out Him, and of this I testify with my whole heart.
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground; he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

I love you all! and if there is anything I can do for you. I will do it. Just let me know:)

DAVE SPENCE WAS BAPTIZED! He has been smoking for 65 years and for the first time he was able to quit! He has been meeting with missionaries for the past few years and me and siter Brown found him outside and taught him ever since.  He doesn't let a day go by without reading the Book of Mormon and he watches General Conference in his spare time. hahah The driest Mormon I've ever met. Not anymore!!

Got to talk to Kayla and Jaiden on the phone this week:) Our president made a new rule that we can call and email our recent converts and keep in touch with them once a week!:) She is preparing to go to the temple and do baptisms soon:)

Miraculous? YES

Hello Family!

I got a quick amazing wonderful miracle to share with you all. So I got to go on exchanges this last week with a very dear friend, Sister Richardson. We were together in the valley (she's the sister that can rip an apple in half with her bare hands...ya I know). So as we were doing our nightly planning she had me look up a bunch of names. The first on the potentials list that stuck out to me was Matt. We put him down, and as we searched for his home 1703..we came to find it was non existent. I looked around us, and felt the need not to leave. I saw a women in the house next to us, 1704 but quickly brushed it off. Sister Richardson hopped back on her bike for us to try someone else and something would not let me hop back onto mine. "Lets try this house sister!" came out of my mouth before I knew it we were at the front door. A boy around the age of 17 answered the door.I said Hi and introduced myself, then In the back I heard this shocked voice yell "Sister Scott?!" You will never believe whose home we were brought to that day....MY NURSE PRACTITIONER. The one I read the Book of Mormon to the whole time she was sewing me up and answered all her doctrinal questions! SHE'S BEEN READING!!! She let us come in and insisted on making us lunch. I was in shock the whole time we were in her home. haha I could not belive how amazing it was that I got to see her again. Words cant even describe the joy I felt ans we got to sit down and  teach her and her son the restoration. The spirit was so strong and I bore my testimony to her that THIS message was true. I told her "Its up to you now, plant it in your heart and nourish it by faith(alma 32) and in God own time, He will show her it is true."  She is a devout Catholic and I could see and feel that It will take her a lot of faith if she is to continue to let it grow in her! I told her It wouldn't be easy but no price is greater than the opportunity to be sealed to her family. She was quiet at first then said "I don't doubt the Lord brought you into my path... and TWICE now. There was too many things you said here, and at the urgent care that made me think, 'there is no way she would've know to say that' so I know It's from God. I will read the Book Of Mormon and pray to know it its true."

It was amazing!!! The spirit was tangible. The spirit taught me so much about the importance of ONE soul in the sight of God.

The Kootenai urgent care I met her at is in post falls and this would be my one and only day In Couer D' Alene this whole transfer and maybe my whole mission. But the Lord is perfect. He knows His children and He places us RIGHT where He needs us if we will just listen. I thank Him everyday for the opportunity I've had to become more familiar with His voice. THAT above all will be one of the greatest blessings my mission has brought to me. There is nothing more essential then listening to the sprit and acting immediately on the promptings you receive. He never leave. Its us that choose to draw away from Him and as we strive to let go of the things of this world continually, we are more and more acceptable to the messaged He would have us receive. I love His gospel more than anything. keep learning and living it and you will see the fruit!! I love you all have a great week!

General Conference = DISNEYLAND

Wasn't General Conference the BEST!!?

I never thought I could love something as much as GENERAL CONFERENCE. You had to staple my eye lids open to get me to watch it before my mission but now it's like Disneyland. I love it. One thing that has helped me so much is to always have questions and people Im wanting to receive revelation for. The spirit it so much more able to teach me as I do that.

Update on our people.
Daeshoane. Yes that is how you spell it and yes he is black. HE IS SO ELECT! The second day I was here we were riding out bikes and across the street was a man waiting at the bus stop. Sitting duck. We crossed over and asked him what his name was and invited him on a church tour! HE ACTUALLY CAME. That doesn't always happen haha and when he came the spirit was so strong we put him on date to be baptized the very first lesson! Last Monday we taught him about the restoration and he says "It makes so much sense that if Jesus Christ would visit the eastern hemisphere of the world, that of course He would visit the western hemisphere as well." The spirit taught him that one. He came to church and went to conference yesterday! This guy is going to be the next apostle. hahah I swear he is awesome.

Gerson. This sweet boy is preparing to be baptized on the 18th! He street contacted by the sisters then started coming to church with his friend in the church the past 5 weeks in a row! He signed up for seminary and just loves it! He reminds me a lot of my little brother and when he goes off on little tangent when we're trying to be spiritual I want to shake him and say "JOSH! QUIT IT! STAY FOCUSED! we're talking about the gospel here not Football!" hahah but He really has such a sweet heart. When His friends aren't around I like to ask him how he really feels about all of this and why hes really going to seminary, I don't just want him to be baptized and less active when he grows up. His answer was "There is just something about the kids there. They're all so happy. I use to have anger problems and ever since I have been going to seminary and church, I;m not angry ever. They kids there say such inspiring things and I think its because they have that Holy Spirit with them or something. But that's what I want in my life."
He is such an amzing kid. He downloaded the Spanish Book of Mormon on His moms app and is starting to read it to her!! He is also thinking about serving a mission. Its pretty exciting to see the Lords hand in his life! I know He has big plans for him.

My  favorite quotes from conference: sorry some of these are a combination of what they said and what the spirit taught me.

"His Mercy is the mighty Healer"

"The natural man receiveth not the things of God"

"If you come seeking, you will find. Hevenly Father feeds His sheep, but they must first hunger after Him"

"Sincere seekers of truth can never let the burning fire of what they DO know diminish"

"Studying the defectors to come to know the gospel is like going to Judas to understand Jesus Christ" haha I loved that

"Human judgment and logical thinking will never be enough. We need not a flash- but continual light and revelation given from our Father in Heaven."

"You are entitled to personal revelation"

"Ponder the path of thy feet"

"When the gospel becomes your characteristics and habbits you will then access the power of the Atonement " one of my favorites. its so true.

"Our eagerness to share these gospel truths is a reflection of how important these truths are to us"

I LOVE THE GOSPEL! I love how perfect the Lord and His gospel are. I love how perfectly he can work through imperfect people to be an answer to so many prayers. He has never ceased to answer mine. I know he will continue to do so as I remain soft, and hunger after the words of His deciples. I love you all so much. Stay strong in all you do! Love the Lord! that's all there is to it!
