I do not possess the power of healing....

OOOh boy, Get ready for this one,

Hellooo family and friends! So Post Falls, where do I start? Its a dream. I love it here! Its hard not knowing anyone but literally what keeps me going (besides the atonement) is BIKING!! Its is my all time favorite thing and we get the car 1 out of the 7 days in this area so I get to do A LOT of it! The Lord threw a bit of wrench into the game plan this week haha but I can tell you, He has taught me SO MUCH from it. I got in a bit of an accident. uuhh I fell off my bike. YES I KNOW, im embarrassed ok? Don't want to dwell to much on it but I will tell you the awesome story that unfolded because of it!

So me and my sweet new companion, Sister Shelton, are biking to an appointment(she is a speed demon I tell ya) So we're wizzing around this corner and next thing I knew I met this beautiful curb that threw me over my handle bars into a bush... She saw the whole thing and said I was quite graceful, I might add. My bike came with me and gave me quite the gash on the knee. I rolled over into the dirt and pine needles and couldn't move my left leg. (Miracle#1 for the first time this spring I decided to wear tights and if I didn't I would've gotten dirt and pine needles all in a cut). Luckily I always carry my handy dandy pocket knife of my and cut open my tights to see blood and flesh and gross stuff. It didn't hurt (Miracle# 2) Until my adrenaline started to wear off and the 20th member we called didn't answer! Finally a member stopped by with a truck (miracle #3) To take me to the Urgent care. coincidence? I think not. I don't think I have ever prayed that hard In my whole life. The Lord was teaching me a lot about faith, and I would be lying to you if I told you I didn't try to give myself blessing of healing. I guess my Faith isn't that of the prophets of old, But im sure He loved the fact that I tried. haha

As I drove to the Urgent care I kind of had a wrestle with God. I asked Him "WHY? I know there is a purpose to all things but out of all the things in my mission to take away right now, why do you have to take biking!? That is how I can find people to teach, I just want to do your work! Why can't I just do that?" and for the first time I felt this incredible peace come over me like, "Sister Scott, If you will have faith, You will understand that you ARE doing my work." I couldn't understand it or explain but from that moment forward I decided to Let my will go and accept whatever the Lord has planned from this. I repented for my fear and asked Him to help do what He needed me to do today.

With a new sense of purpose and peace I looked for every circumstance in which I could share the gospel. I prayed and prayed He would provide someone for me to teach out of this and sure enough my nurse sits me down and shuts the door, she says, "Ok so now that I have you cornered, I've always wanted to know, what is the difference between your church and other denominations?" I almost laughed out loud it was too perfect. I got to teach her the whole restoration while she was cleaning my wound! hahah I was interrupted half way through Joseph Smiths first vision (danggit), but I grabbed a Book of Mormon from my companion and wrote my testimony and other notes in it every chance I got! until someone else would come in.

Finally my nurse Practitioner came is and started to sew me up. For some reason the spirit was so incredibly strong. I asked her "So do you believe in God?" and she said "Oh yes, hunny, Im a born and raised Catholic. Not practicing tho" And our conversation just sky rocketed from there! She shared with me some deep personal stories about questions in doctrine she has always had and I got to read to her in the Book Of Mormon to answer her questions! She would occasionally look up from her sewing job and say "Wow that was beautiful, what verse is that?" and I expounded on the story of Alma and Amuleck and the question of why do bad things happen to good people. and How God DOES answer our prayers when we ACT in faith(ether 12:27). The most amazing part was when she told me of a dear friend she studies with for years In doctor school that died on the surgeons table and how it shook her beyond her faith and career. I read with her Alma 40:11-12 and told her where her friend was and It was probably the most sacred teaching moment of my whole mission. I prayed she would keep putting in stitches so we could keep taking but she finished after 8. hahah

At the very end She asked me if there was anything I needed to tell her before she left. I looked down at the Book of Mormon I had been scribbling in earlier and realized, EVERY chapter we went over are the ones I marked before she even came into the room. I realized it was for her all along. I said "Yes, can I leave this with you?" She took it from my hand and gave me the biggest smile and said, "You know, I think you were meant to meet me today, thank you." AAAAH it was the best feeling In the entire world!!

If there is one thing the Lord had taught me its that, No I do not know the meaning of all things, But this I do know without a doubt in my heart, that God LOVES HIS CHILDREN.

I cant begin to explain how Much the Lord had taught me about faith these last few days. But I testify that if we will Just "trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not to our OWN understanding and acknowledge Him in ALL we do, He will direct our paths". He has done it so many times for me and I know He can do it for each of you. He Lives. He loves you, and all He wants is for you to learn of Him. Live His gospel, do His work, and feel for yourself His love and share it with all those you come in contact with! I'm so grateful for each of you who continues to do that for me. Keep the Faith! I love you all!!

Yet another transfer begins!

Hi!!!!
Last night we got our transfer calls! IM HEADED TO POST FALLS!! Im excited. This should be an adventure. That place should be getting snow within the next month or so and I'M ON BIKE!!! WAhooooo. For real tho, I love biking. Dont care if it's in the snow.
Best service of my whole mission. We were called into the Fair to help with the quilting section and since it was full they sent us to baked goods section under TASTE TESTING. Yeah, I had 3 strait hours of eating nothing but cakes, cookies, breads, YOU NAME IT. They had to role me out of that place by the time I was done. It was great.

Had a crazy night with Kayla last night, helping her with everything she is going through. Having to say bye to her this morning was probably the saddest moment of my mission! I'm going to miss her and little Jaiden so much. I cant even describe the difference the Gospel has made in her life. I've gotten to see so many different ways of living on my mission and each situation has strengthened my testimony of the Gospel and Christ as our center! It continues to amaze me how empty and unfulfilled life truly is without living His teachings. As a missionary you can only HOPE and PRAY your investigators will come to see that for themselves. Being a new member is rough. Satan attacks you left and right! I was terrified last night of the thought of her falling away. So this morning I read with her Alma 23 about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis and how they "buried their weapons of war".
Alma 23: And as sure as the Lord liveth, so sure as many as believed, or as many as were brought to the knowledge of the truth, through the preaching of Ammon and his brethren,according to the spirit of revelation and of prophecy, and the power of God working miracles in them—yea, say unto you, as the Lord liveth, as many of the Lamanites as believed intheir preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.
Conversion includes conscious decision to give up one’s former ways and change to become disciple of Christ. I told her that her old ways and habits are her weapons and that when she was baptized she made a promise give them to the Lord and follow Him. I have seen Satan these last weeks doing all he can to dig those things up and make her forget where true happiness comes from. Thanks to the amazing spirit that taught her this morning she is back on track!!! We have set goals and plans to get her to the temple and she just cried when I got to explain to her that thanks to the gospel, we never have to say goodbye. We can just say see you later:) I will do all in my power to see her in the temple doors. I know she'll make it.
Best quotes from this week:
Dave- "Every time I read the Book of Mormon, my cravings go away. It's the darndest thing!"
hahahah Dave, HE IS BEING BAPTIZED THIS SATURDAY!!!! Im torn I cant see him, but im just happy he's getting in the water!
Lori- Her and sister Chambers(a less active) spent ALL day calling and visiting their friends to find someone to bring to "invite a friends to church day" They were distraught they couldnt find someone, It was hilarious. In the middle of our lesson she says ""I GOT IT!" pulls out her phone and says "Shelly girl! im pickin yo up tomorra. WE GOIN TA CHURCH! " and hangs up. THATS is was i call missionary fire!!
Lori's other amazing comments "Sisters, I have an addiction and cant sleep now because of it, i READ MY PREACH MY GOSPEL!" she says she cant stop still like 1 am hahah she is amazing.
David (a Mennonite) after teaching him the Restoration.."So are you telling me, that this is the only church on the earth with the fulness of Christ Gospel?" "Yes Dave, that is exactly what we're telling you"..him "Well......you have my interest. that's for sure" hahahaha best lesson ever.

This gospel is so true. I cant even begin to describe the Joy It has brought me. Lewiston is the promise land but I've found it truly doesn't matter where I am. I'm on His errand, and He is where I find home. I have found such a peace being about my Fathers business and I will continue to Let my Love for Him and His gospel drive me to do all I do!
"All things work together for good, to them that love God, to them that are called according to His work"

Love you all! Be about your Fathers business!!

The Voice of the Spirit!

Hello everyone!
What a week. We had interview with president and that was fun! Lots of trainings! I was going through my brain about the awesome perks of being a missionary and I wanted to share them with you! so this week we had stake conference and I love standing at the door at church or other meetings and welcome all the members in. Im a pro greeter. These people, especially in the outer boonie areas are total saints. They treat missionaries like princesses. ESPECIALLY SISTERS. The outer area haven't had sisters EVER so when they see us they come shake our hands and talk for hours. Some ask to take pictures with us..Its a dream. hahah another sweet sweet little boy we had dinner with was getting us cups and he reaches in the cupboard and goes "PERFECT!' handing me the pink sippie cup with sleeping beauty, ariel, and jasmine on it and says "Here is the princess cup..since thats basically what you are." hahaha i have ever felt so honored in my life.
Update on these people! Lori- not sure how much i have explained to you about her..these emails an d my journal moosh together. So this week she got to meet with president! SHE PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS except she cant be baptized until probably december due to parole. No matter. she is hitting her year mark of being out of prison and I cant even begin to describe to you how much change has come into her life in that short amount of time. Its like she served a mission or something. Ever since she was thrown out on the street the lord has put members in her path, Her parole officer? MORMON. her maintenance helper? MORMON. The person she shares her house with? MORMON. The arp class person. MORMON. The very first people she was involved with found her with clothes she found in a dumpster, a blanket, and an ensign magazine. Oh and they were MORMON. This women is amazing. Ever since she recieved her answer the church was true she has been sharing the gospel like no other. The missionaries in moscow have a new investigator because of her and we are still trying to contact the referrals she's given us, and when we invited her to invite someone to church with her she responded "Oh that's easy." we said "You need to talk to out members!!!" she said "it's just cause they aren't as excited as I am. I love this gospel." True conversion brings a desire to share. Its impossible to hold it back if you truly love the Gospel and you love your Father in Heaven.
other great conversations with investigators or less actives:
One investigator who has been smoking for 64 years and the doctors told him if he quits he will probably not make it. He reads the Book of Mormon every night, and watched general conference for fun. He is probably the dryest mormon I know so we're fasting for him to gain the strength to quit! "Dave will you quit smoking and be baptized?"  his response "Yes, lets hurry it up!" hahaha THATS whats i'm talking about. True conversion! Keep him in your prayers:)
A goal I have set for myself this past week is to follow EVERY prompting of the spirit I receive. I find myself always quiestioning "Is that me, or is that the spirit" There is no such thing. EVERY good thought that is for the intend to uplift, to help, or to do good is from the Lord. Those who see miracles and are an effective instrument are those who act on every worthy thought they receive. The Lord reminded me about this yesterday as we were going home late past our curfew Im was flying down the hill to get home. In the Corner of my eye I see this women and first thought "Turn around and talk to her. We dont pass anyone." I fought with the spirit the whole way down the Hill and FINALLY AT THE BOTTOM (im and idiot) turn to my companion and say "We need to go back." We turn around and ended up hearing she has been walking all the way from clarkston and still has MILES to go. We called a member down the street to give her a ride home and she is now meeting with us! Her name is Bernie. She is a miracle. The spirit is so good. If we will take the time to heed what is says, we will NEVER be led astray. If we block it out or ignore it, the spirit withdraws and will wait until you come seeking.
D&C

15 months....why?

Hey Family:)
Its been one crazy week. haha Probably the craziest week of my mission! Monday we had a big Labor day Picnic for our ward with a bike race...i didnt get to decorate shirly:(my bike) I was pretty upset. But theres always next year right? Tuesday we had MLC and I got to see all my missionary friends!! Wednesday we had Pday and ward correlation, Thursday weekly planned and planned for our trainings, Friday trained and Zone conference, and saturday we did a sister Blitz down in Orophino (the boonies) It was great. I got to drive:) It is SO beautiful down there. But what that is: all us sisters piled in the zone leaders van (I drove..im the best) and go to one elders area and all together we street contact and tract in diferent parts of their area. There was about 3 sets of sisters, and 4 sets of elders and in 1 hour we contacted 59 streets contacts and 19 lessons. It was such a cool thing so see the elders light up as we handed over all the contacts and new investigators we found them:) It was like Christmas but better.
Me and Sister Karisa Riddle were together and we knocked on this sweet old mans door who did NOT want to talk to us..so we did anyway. He said he was athiest and had absolutely no interest in hearing our message. We somehow got him to let us sing a song so of course I chose my favorite "Oh my Father". After that, the spirit was so strong and he let us leave him with a pamphlet on the Plan of Salvation and a prayer! I have seen music work miracles on my mission. It teaches me that the spirit is truly all that matters in this work.
My testimony has grown so much on the importance and appreciation of the scriptures! They provide such an amazing view of the plan God has. Sometimes I feel like a child that He is trying to convey His message to over and over again using parables, poems, and testimonies fo the Prophets and I STILL can't even begin to comprehend how beautiful it all really is. Thanks to my mom and dad, I have developed this passion for studying them. I'll never forget waking up around 5 or 6 am in the morning for school and coming upstairs finding my dad in his office just BURRIED in his Book of Mormon and Bible. I never unerstood it and NOW I DO. All I want to do is study and study. It has become "delicious to me"(alma 32). I have seen the way the Holy Ghost is able to make certain scriptures pop out to you and literally pierce your heart. It's amazing. No matter how many times I read, I learn something new. Another Huge factor I've seen is Patience, Humility, and Diligence. If you are open and willing to learn what HE would have you learn and keep at it, He will reveal little by little golden truths. It's different for everyone but I challenge each of you to start now! Dont let a day go by that you don't open up your scriptures. Have Faith the Lord will provide you with peace, even if thats just from the feelings you have WHILE you read. It's all from Him. "Seek and Ye shall find" and a REAL promise. I leave my Tesimony of that, and the power of Gods word! I have seen it everyday
Here is a few that I just LOVE lately!
Jeremiah 20:9 "But his word was in mine heart as burning fire shut up in my bones, and was weary with forbearing, and could not stay."
Ether 12: 2 "and began to prophesy unto the people, for he could not be restrained because of the Spirit of the Lord which was in him."

" Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for better world, yea, even place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good worksbeing led to glorify God."
I love you all!:) see yaaa soon!
