Sister Brooke Scott is Called as a Sister Training Leader and First Companion.....Oh and She's an Aunt again too!!

Hey guys!!
SHOUT OUT TO MY NEW NEPHEW CREW!!!..quit havin babies family. These boys are missin the greatest aunt of all time.
There has been some awesome and some sad things this week! so first I will start with the sad so we can end on a happy note:) This weeks miracle was, we got a call from a less active family we have been working with for a while and her neice was in the hospital for early labor. at 12 o clock the baby would be 23 weeks TO THE DAY and (some law says) if the baby is anything less than 23 weeks the doctors cant do anything to help the baby stay alive. She hadent felt the baby kick in over 3 hours and the doctors were telling her the best would be to not have the baby at all. Through all this craziness we sent the elders over to give her a blessing. The elder was from russia so most of what he said was in russian. Although you couldnt understand the first half of the blessing, the room was litereally flooding with the sprit and the mother began to cry. She felt her baby kick for the first time in the last 3 hours while the elders hands where on her head! Sadly the blessing was only one of comfort and he didnt feel prompted to tell her her baby would live. The miracle was that she lastes until 12:03 until the baby was born so the doctors did everything they could to keep her alive but she passed away at 12:30.
The brosam family(less actives) where able to comfort her for the last 3 days telling her all the amazing blessing that come from the gospel! The opportunity she has to be sealed to her child and the amazing plan of salvation God has for all His children. The mother knew from the moment they mentioned eternal families that the church was true and that it HAD to be Gods plan. Not only did this experience bring the brosam family back to church, but She will be meeting with the missionaries this week and is so incredibly happy to know that she will see her daughter again!
This Gospel Is true. There is no better way for me to explain it. The more I study and ask questions, the more the sprit teaches me and confirms its truthfulness. If you can understand God's true character and His purpose (which is to "bring to pas the immortality and eternal life of man") Then everything is His Gospel and this life makes perfect sense. The greatest part is that we dont NEED to know everything in order for the spirit to confirm that to us. Moroni has made that promise to us in the last chapter in the book of Mormon.
Moroni chapter 10 verses 3-5
"I would exort you that when ye shall read these things thats ye would ASK GOD the eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true, and if ye will ask with a,
1. sincere heart (being willing to accept Gods will above your own)
2. with real intent (meaning you will ACT of whatever prompting He gives you)
3. having faith in Christ (full and complete trust that as you act everything will turn out for your good)
HE WILL MANIFEST THE TRUTH OF IF UNTO YOU by the power of the Holy Ghost"
verse 5 is His promise "and by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of ALL things."
I testify with my whole heart that THAT is Gods truth. If you pray with those 3 things in mind, God will answer your prayer. Whatever your question might be. He loves each of you more than you can comprehend and I challenge you all to one day ask Him how much. The Spirit is incredible. This Gospel Is Gods plan and the atonement of Jesus Christ has made me the happiest i've ever been in my whole life! OHH my goodness people. I love it.
Have an amazing week and I'll see ya'll sooon!

Miricoles!!

oooood day family and friends!

What a week this has been. The worst part about the mission life is SO much happens that I have had absolutely NO time to write all of it down. We have been asked to read the whole book of Mormon in 1 transfer(6 weeks) Which is 13 pages a day and I am ALREADY like 40 pgs behind and we started Tuesday.. there goes sister scott. Oh well the atonement is real and I will catch up. MY NEW COMPANION IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!! She is a hair stylist and a master esthetician (something about she can make my skin pretty) ANSWER TO PRAYERS! this is going to be my "get beautiful" transfer. But seriously we are SO alike. I love her. She reminds me so much of me when I first came out. SO happy and SO passionate - the Lord brought sooo many miracles because of that and so I will do my best to recount them.

First day in the field for sister seastrand, we went to Nina's home(our atheist investigator). She wasn't home and we walk for an hour around contacting people on the street with no success. I felt a promting to go back to ninas home and just as I turned the corner Nina yelled! "girls! I was just about to call you!" haha she has been really struggling with reading the book of Mormon. As me and sister Seastrand taught alma 22(kind lamonis conversion) the spirit literally flooded into the room and nina said "I have read this chapter 3 times and could not get anything out of it but now that im reading it with you I see how perfectly it applies to me." I wanted to scream.. ITS CAUSE WE PRAYED AND INVITED THE SPIRIT NINA! the spirit teaches, we just open our mouths! It was SUCH a miracle for her to recognize that. It was amazing to see how much the Lord had softened her heart!

Another night we had ALL our apointments canceled and I felt SO strongly that the Lord wanted us to invite someone to be baptized that day and we haden't had the chance to! As we drove home the name Gene came to my mind so  we called him as we pulled into the garage! as he answered the phone he said "Goodness girls I was just thinkin about you!" We asked Him to pull out His scriptures and read 2 nephi 31 with us and the spirit was so strong we invited him to be baptized over the phone and he said YES!!! miracles. The Lord always provides!

I could continue on an on about miracle and the amazing tender mercies the Lord gives us everyday. The best way I can sum it up is that I KNOW THIS IS THE LORDS WORK. There is absolutely no way things would work out otherwise. He has an eternal plan and as we yield to His will, we find out the role we have to paly it. The Holy Ghost is on of the greatest gifts we have been given and the world will do everything and anything it can to drown it out. My challenge to all of you is to take the time to just be still. Listen for it. It's far better than any peace and love the world has to offer. I testify it's there, and God has given it to all His children so they can find there way home. I love you all so much!!

26 But the aComforter, which is the bHoly Ghost, whom the Father will send in my cname, he shall dteach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 aPeace I leave with you, my bpeace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be ctroubled, neither let it be afraid

MTC Companion and First Companion

Transfers and New Companions!!

Hola Mi familia!!

So my transfer call is.. IM MOVING TO THE SPANISH AREA! just kidding. I wish. hahah but im going to be spending a lot more time in the spanish area cause Im a sister training leader now. NUTS! I feel like a child but I trust the Lord knows whats he's doing. Im also staying and traning a new missonary as well so this is going to be quite a transfer of training! I pick up my new companion tomorrow and we begin trainging programs on friday! Wish me luck!

We also got to have a visa waiter stay with us waiting to go to australia! She is a convert of 2 years from canada! she is covered in tatoos and she is the sickest sister i have ever met. haha I love her and am soooo sad to see her go..She'll be arriving in australia tomorrow. She has the most amazing conversion story. When she lived in scottland(by herself) she felt so empty and lost from the party life that one day her computer turned to lds.org and she started to watch the videos, she sent in her address for the missionaries to give her a book of mormon and she said the gopel is EVERYTHING she had been looking for. She says she has never been happier in her whole life since the day she was baptized! The church is true.

We got to hear from Eler Niel L Anderson and Elder Christian this week! OH my goodness that was awesome. Apostles are so cool. They are like real people and so spiritual. He is really funny too! Speaking of funny..We all got to go to a zumba class that the spanish branch started and ITS WAS THE FUNNIEST THING IN THE WORLD! spanish zumba classes in spokane are like belly dancing club parties..As a sister missionary..it WAS SOOOO CRAZY! HAHAHAHAHAH i felt so apostate. I could NOT belive president approved it or that the teacher was a member of the church!! hahaha But we got to wear the little gypsie coin wraps things and all the spanish woman yell "ey ey ey ey!" its hilarious. i'll send pictures.

So this last sunday my testimony was completely strengthened from fasting. I have learned that if there is ANYthing you need from your Heavenly Father, you can got to Him in prayer, fasting, and faith and He will help you. Its amazing to see how strong my desire to share the gospel has grown. I want nothing more than to TEACH TEACH AND TEACH SOME MORE! I love being able to feel the love Heavenly Father has for His children and to listen to the spirit for what they need to hear. Sadly it's been a little rough only having 1 solid investigator and she is an athiest...SOOO the work is cruisin like a snail but thats ok because the Lord will provide. This sunday I prayed that I would be able to somehow help the other missionaries around me and that i would be able to find more investigators, and BOTH of my prayers were answered.

Yesterday I felt we needed to go to the apartments and try this potential(our potential lists are 3-4 years old so its a miracle if they're still living there) We went to a womans home names cheryl after a long day of no one being interested and so tired from not eating, We prayed before we kocked her door that whoever would open this door would welcome us in and be ready to recieve the message of the gospel. As cheryl opened the door her face lit up. "Oh come in! come in! I have to ask you some questions." (music to a sisters ears) She told us about how today was her fathers death anaversary and she has so many questions about the after life and who we have temples. We were able to answer her questions and she commited to read the book of mormon everyday until we get to see her next! She also is dating a man who wants to learn more as well so this week we will be teaching them!!:) The Lord provides ALWAYS!!

Oh my goodness family and friends I LOVE THE GOSPEL. I know its true with every fiber of whatever i'm made up of. I love my brother Jesus Christ and I know i cannot make it home without Him. He is my light and my strength. I would be idle without Him. The small price that i've paid to become aquainted with Him has been the greatest priviledge of my life. Im growing., Im progressing, and I'm becoming so much more than what I had planned for myself. If you are struggling in anyway..give yourself to him, completely, and you will obtain TRUE and lasting happiness. I am a living proof that His atonement is real and that He lives!

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for agood to them that love God, to them who are the called according to hispurpose."

I love you all!:)

Christmas with the Nowling's family! and Celebrating 2014 with the Sister Missionaries!

Happy New Year 2013-2014!

Happy 2014 everyone!!

Holy cow. This is nuts. I cannot belive how fast time has flown! The new year has already brought some awesome miracles! we recieved a refferal from new zeland by a member for her firend named nina mott  two weeks earlier but she had just gotten sugery so we werent sure when or how to contact her or know when she would be out of the hospital. Two weeks later we went to her home and a man opened the door said "HEY!" then slammed the door before I could even say "wait! i forgot to give you a hug!". I was a little discouraged to say the least. New years day we were invited over to lunch by some older missionaries in our ward(elder and sister carmen) and they invited a friend in their apartment complex named nina. She is the most adorable 60 year old woman. When she told us her last name was Mott..I nearly choked on my soup. She accepted to hear the message of the gospel. She has been on church history tours in navoou, she has read all of the works and the glory books, and has been to church and relif society activities with her friend in new zeland for the past 5 years! The only down side is..she doesnt belive in God. NO MATTER! Sister Scott is MORE than up for a challenge. She belives in Jesus Christ(imagine that) so she's already won half the battle! hahah This should be awesome..i'll keep you posted.

So do you remember the woman names sister Colvin? She has been less active for 35 years because she got in some sort of a fight with a bishop and SWORE she would never step foot into another mormon church again. Me and my companion(with the mercy of the Lord) were the first lds people to enter her home in 20 years. She has scolded all visiting and home teachers that ever came to her door step and as we saw her the spirit very clearly directed me to talk to her bring up family history work. That was the start of our weekly visits! She has been through all the dicussions again and has been keeping commitents to read and pray but continues to say she is not ready. That last lesson we had with her I told her "Sister Colvin, you can tell us all you want that you aren't ready, but the Lord has already told me that you are. You have many ancestors awaiting your return and we would not have been sent to your home if you werent. We love you, Now come back." Never in my life have i felt the spirit working so strongly through me as it does with her(I feel it most strongly with the less actives we teach) but i have made a promise to myself and to the Lord that I will be as bold and as direct and the spirit prompts me to be and MAN was i sweating. I left her home SURE she would recieve her answer. Soon enough she gives us a call at 7:30 sunday morning and says (in her proper old fashioned tone)"I'll have you know, I will be attending this meeting and would like you to save me a seat sister scott." It took everything in my power not to burst into joy on the phone. I calmly said "Im very much looking forward to it sister Colvin. We love you" Hung up...DANCED OFF IN TO THE MISSIONARY SUNSET and tackled my companion. It was the best sunday every. Another recent returning less active bore his testimony that sunday about how he has chosent o come back into the church and anounced over the puplit that "HE IS HERE TO STAY!"

There was a chapel full of tears that day including sister Colvins. She will be attending Stake conference next week to see Elder Niel Anderson!!! This church is so true. God lives and My savior is my best friend. The worth of souls is great in the sight of God and I testify their is no greater joy than assisting you loving Heavenly Father in His work. BE ANXIOUSLY ENGAGED everyone!! I love you and I'll see ya'll sooon!!:)

Christmas Morning with Sister Scott and Sister Johnson

Christmas in the Field Part 2

HELLOOOO EVERYONE!! merry christmas and a happy new year..

This is crazy. I love being a missionary so much. This has been the greatest christmas of all time. Everything Is so much more simple and meaningful. I think the world does a pretty good job at complicating everything so we dont even have time to enjoy the things in life that bring the greatest joy and meaning to life. I hope you all had an amazing time at christmas and got to spend priceless hours with your family! I know i did!:) That hour talkin to you family was seriously the best christmas present ever! It's so amazing to see all of you. If there is one thing i've learned out here it's the importance of family. Thats what I get to share everyday! that the Gospel Is all centered on our family and how we can be together forever..If i had a dime for everytime i've said that, i would be rich. But that truly is why we have the gospel. As we draw closer to Christ we strengthen those around us. It's all preperation to return back to our Heavenly Fathers family.

Just a little idea of my christmas..The night before I cleaned our living room, set up our chairs facing the christmas tree, put my favorite blanket down, put my washington mug on the counter ready for hot chocolate, set up my little camera on a tripod..I might be a little bit of a perfectionist..BUT I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!! and hey, i olny get one christmas in the field so I gotta make it good.
waking up was like magic! I think i sat in front of that tree for over an hour just staring at it. hahah It was the greatest feeling! I sound so old..But it was the best. Then we took turns opening presents from our families and ward members then I was so overwhelmed with gifts I slept a little..haha then we had a big breakfast with some sisters! I made the eggs. Then we went around to our ward members and gave them our gift!!

Mine and sister Johnsons gift was a picture of the savior that I drew and an amazing poem My companion wrote!! That really was the best part about christmas is giving out our gift and bearing testimony of the savior! Combining the spirit of christmas while talking about the savior..IT WAS LIKE A SPIRITUAL POWER HOUSE! it was awesome. There has been a lot of investigators and less actives that we have been working with that have been struggling and to see their faces light up as we shared our present with them was the greatest feeling in the whole world. There was no better way to feel of the christmas present then to give to others.

One example was sister Colvin. She was baptized with her husband and once he died(about 30 yrs ago) She became inactive. We have been the first missionaries in 20 years that she has let into her home. As we've met with her she has softened her heart so much but I could still sense there was something else that was weighing on her heart. As we met with her and gave her our present she began to cry and for the frist time since we've been meeting with her she asked if she could offer the closing prayer. She said she was sorry for hardening her heart toward the church all these years and begged Heavenly Father to help her feel lasting Joy like she did while she was active. The spirit was stronger than ever as she brought up the loss of her daughter and thanked Heavenly Father for letting her feel of her presence while we were there. Tears were flowing down all out faces as I hugged her and told her "He heard your prayer and so did she. merry christmas sister Colvin."

I love being a misisonary. I love serving with the saviors name on my tag. I love being His instrument. The greatest joy comes in and through the gospel of Jesus Christ and I will bear testimony that that it is true forever!! I love my savior. Words can't fully describe how much. Merry Christmas everyone!! YOU MATTER TO JESUS!!!

-Sister scott:)

(Sister Johnsons poem!!)
to my little one,
you have made it through another year,
with trials great and small;
My gift to you this christmas is to have no fear,
I have overcome it all.
My blood was spilt, My tears where shed;
A crown of thorns on my annointed head.
For you I walked the path alone,
for you the seeds of hope were sown.
I see each act of kindness, done in word and deed.
Do not be discouraged, you have done them unto me.
I'm greatful for your service, for your loving heart and smile,
It makes the journey back to me more worth it by the mile.
I know the pains you suffer I know the load you bear,
My gift to your this christmas is to know that I am there.
You may not see me standing close, you may not feel my touch.
But trust in my redeeming love,
I love you very much.
So have a Merry christmas and from one day to another,
Trust in me, Hope in me,
Your every Living Brother.

Christmas in the Field!!

And on that note.......
